Adding custom styles to, or replacing styles in the CKEditor “Styles” dropdown should be relatively easy. Well at least that is what we thought. Yet, recently Mark Anderson, Jeremey Farrance, Mark Buelsing, and myself had to put our collective heads together to figure out how to do just that. Although it took us the good part of a day, we triumphed and thought we should share the specifics with you. This relatively simple task turned out to be the impetus of this series.

When working with DNN’s default HTML editor, “CKEditorProvider” by DNN Connect, the default settings out of the box leaves much to be desired. Even worse, If you have ever tried customizing CKEditorProvider‘s settings, you may have noticed that it is not always as straight forward as you would think, or like it to be. In a multi-part series I hope to clear up some of the mystery by showing you how to customize the CKEditorProvider to streamline your (or your clients) html module workflow, and to put the WYS back into WYSIWYG!

Today I got a question by a community member if he could redirect all pages to the "Home" page. He needs this because he is setting up some "This Website is Offline" pages and would like to present google with a temporary Redirect (307) for all URLs that are not the Home page, instead of a 404 not found, as long as the website is offline.
First and foremost, I'm pleased to be able to announce that there is a new version of Active Forums available. It's been a couple of weeks in the making, or months if you consider some of the details in this blog post. There were several people in the community that chipped in to make this release possible as well, so I'm extra excited about this release.

I remember back in my early school years as a kid how much certain clothing and shoes played a role in social norms and acceptance among peers. I thought I’d try not to date myself here, but geez, who am I kidding? You all remember the days of parachute pants, Michael Jackson leather jackets a la Thriller, and of course Air Jordans? Man, I unashamedly thrived to possess all three! Bare with me for a moment here while I take a quick walk down memory lane with each of these three highly sought-after items. ;-)
A little over a year ago I wrote a blog DNN, .NET Core & .NET 5 which was a follow-up to my article from 2018 DNN, .NET Core, and the Road Ahead. Over the two years since the first post was authored, we have seen incredible change within the DNN Platform as well as the entire .NET ecosystem. As we continue to progress forward with the DNN Platform project it is important for us to validate the technical future and ensure that we are progressing in a manner that is aligned to the best possible future for our project.

Not getting dressed up, or even fully dressed for that matter, is just one of the many advantages as a speaker this year at DNN Summit 2021, which will be held online this time around. Here's a bunch more, and reasons why there's no time like this year to sign up.
Really? No, I am joking, but it's not April Fools Day. So what? In this Blog article I am going to explain how to install SQL Server 2019 on Ubuntu, and then using it with DNN. Sometimes you are in need to install SQL Server and IIS (with DNN) on different machines, so why pay a license for the Operating System when you need a database server? Since the release of SQL Server 2017, Microsoft added support for different Linux systems (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, Ubuntu and Docker Engine) to SQL Server. Some days ago, I said: why not trying this? And after some trial and error, I finally got it to run. So here's what I did.

We all know it: If we have problems accessing a database, we can assign the db_owner role to the account that accesses the database - or even worse, we assign the sysadmin role for the whole server to this account. And we have that presentiment that we could open some security holes by doing so. So what is reasonable?
