Today I got a question by a community member if he could redirect all pages to the "Home" page.
He needs this because he is setting up some "This Website is Offline" pages and would like to present google with a temporary Redirect (307) for all URLs that are not the Home page, instead of a 404 not found, as long as the website is offline.
First and foremost, I'm pleased to be able to announce that there is a new version of Active Forums available. It's been a couple of weeks in the making, or months if you consider some of the details in this blog post. There were several people in the community that chipped in to make this release possible as well, so I'm extra excited about this release.
Ransomware has been a critical security issue since 2018 and is constantly evolving, making it increasingly difficult to detect as malware. We have taken this opportunity to share our experience and help you protect your DNN websites from ransomware attacks in the future.
I remember back in my early school years as a kid how much certain clothing and shoes played a role in social norms and acceptance among peers. I thought I’d try not to date myself here, but geez, who am I kidding? You all remember the days of parachute pants, Michael Jackson leather jackets a la Thriller, and of course Air Jordans? Man, I unashamedly thrived to possess all three! Bare with me for a moment here while I take a quick walk down memory lane with each of these three highly sought-after items. ;-)
A little over a year ago I wrote a blog DNN, .NET Core & .NET 5 which was a follow-up to my article from 2018 DNN, .NET Core, and the Road Ahead. Over the two years since the first post was authored, we have seen incredible change within the DNN Platform as well as the entire .NET ecosystem. As we continue to progress forward with the DNN Platform project it is important for us to validate the technical future and ensure that we are progressing in a manner that is aligned to the best possible future for our project.
2sxc 11 finally has it's first LTS - Long-Term-Support version. Enjoy!
This is the first in a series of blog posts and interviews with Gold Sponsors of the upcoming DNN Summit 2021 conference. In this interview, we speak to Mitchel Sellers of Iowa Computer Gurus. He gives us the goods on the event, what you can expect from the event, and he also introduces us to his company.
Not getting dressed up, or even fully dressed for that matter, is just one of the many advantages as a speaker this year at DNN Summit 2021, which will be held online this time around. Here's a bunch more, and reasons why there's no time like this year to sign up.
Really? No, I am joking, but it's not April Fools Day. So what? In this Blog article I am going to explain how to install SQL Server 2019 on Ubuntu, and then using it with DNN. Sometimes you are in need to install SQL Server and IIS (with DNN) on different machines, so why pay a license for the Operating System when you need a database server?
Since the release of SQL Server 2017, Microsoft added support for different Linux systems (Red Hat Enterprise Linux, SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, Ubuntu and Docker Engine) to SQL Server. Some days ago, I said: why not trying this? And after some trial and error, I finally got it to run. So here's what I did.
We all know it: If we have problems accessing a database, we can assign the db_owner role to the account that accesses the database - or even worse, we assign the sysadmin role for the whole server to this account.
And we have that presentiment that we could open some security holes by doing so. So what is reasonable?
The DNN Platform has been plagued by some past decisions with regards to third-party component inclusion. We, as a community, have achieved a milestone that will finally allow us to move beyond those past limitations and focus on a brighter and more secure future!
Open-source software is a part of everyday life in 2020, however, many users of open-source don't truly understand what they are getting by using an open-source project. Lets explore how open-source projects are managed, and optionally funded, and how we can be better open-source consumers.
An important announcement from Bogdan Litescu, CEO & Founder of DNN Sharp about the future - the future of DNN, the future of DNN Sharp, the future of the community, our future, together. See this 5-minute video in which Bogdan will let you in on the biggest DNN Sharp update in the last 15 years.

Are you evaluating a CMS to use for a new website in 2020? Here are 8 reasons why DNN Platform is a perfect choice.
For people new to DNN, the Languages feature can unintentionally hide a lot of useful things you can customize in your DNN site. This often results in common questions like:
Do you know Database Mail? Those who administer an MS SQL Server apart from the Express Edition might know it, and there is a nice interface to configure it in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS). But this interface is missing in the Express Edition. The reason for that is that the SQL Server Agent Services are not present in this edition, which does not let us configure maintainence tasks or Database Mail.
These services use the MSDB database, and this database is installed as one of the system databases, even in SQL Server Express Edition. With a few SQL statements we can activate and configure Database Mail, and make use of this feature.
DNN 9.7.0 was slated as the next big release on our roadmap. Plans included a new Resource Manager for managing digital assets. While we were still working on the new Resource Manager and marching towards the 9.7.0 release, we received a nice mix of bug fixes and new features as pull requests. And since we were aiming for a minor release, we did not separate bug fixes from new features.
In Part 2 of this blog, we will take a look at how we can use a new tool called DNN_Tailwind to create DNN themes based on the Tailwind CSS framework. If you have not read Part -1, you may want to read it first, if you are not familiar with Tailwind CSS
