Are You Ready for Changes?

I said to Don, “We gotta do something different, man!”

Month after month we hold our Chicago Area DNN Users Group Meeting online and scramble last minute to come up with a speaker. We then take time to post the event on several social media outlets. We take more time to gather up the latest corporate news, what’s happening around the community and the latest core and module updates on Codeplex. When we get together online, we record our session and spend more time to convert / upload it so that the community can watch later. The whole process has turned into more of a podcast then an actual virtual user group meeting.

And now for something completely different…

We need to be more proactive and get things scheduled in advance rather than waiting until the last minute to make it happen. We want to get the word out about our needs for the next meeting and for the topics that are going to be covered. I know, seems like a simple thing, but running a user group isn’t all the glitz and glamour like you would think. So we’ve decided to adopt a new process for organizing and planning our meetings. 

We are going to be continually calling for speakers and topics for our upcoming meetings. So if you have something that you want to talk about, we want to give you a forum to do just that (it does have to be DNN / Website related…)  If there is someone you want to hear more from, let us know and we will reach out to them and see if we can’t get them on the calendar. If you feel the group should be doing something else, let us know that as well.

Also, we are going to be talking about and promoting our meetings well in advance of the actual meeting date / time.  We are going to use all the social media outlets that we have to do this.

If you have read this far, then you might be thinking about how you can help. Well, I’m glad you asked. We need help with the event calendar on the website. We want to get any / all DNN community events posted on the ChicagoDNN.org/Events calendar. If it has to do with DNN and / or website design and development then we want to see it on the calendar.

We could also use writers / bloggers / content creators to develop and post content on the website to help people learn more about DNN. Finally, everyone who is still reading this can help us spread the word about The Chicago Area DNN Users Group.  So if you see us on social media, please retweet, share, +1, like, and comment. Come on! Let us know you are out there and tell us how we can help you!
