Our May Chicago DotNetNuke User Group meeting was held at the 7th annual CMS Expo at the Hotel Orrington in Evanston.
I guess Evanston is a tough place to get too, if the quantity of users at our Users Group meeting is any indication. The core group of members had a very informative discussion about DNN Corporation, the user group, DNN technology, Responsive design, and our individual companies.
We discussed DNN Pro Edition. It makes sense for companies that require a software agreement and a sense of assurance. But technically, the code is basically Community Edition with a couple modules. For so many companies, that will do the trick, and save them money. We wholeheartedly support that philosophy.
Scott talked about Southern Fried DNN, the Charlotte DNN Conference last month. He taught on the training day and gave a session Saturday. Visit www.dotnetnuclear.com to see what Scott does. We're all jealous of the guys in Charlotte because they have a great user group community.
Phil showed a very neat way to show tables. These tables rearrange when they are displayed on different devices, and in a very logical way. Watch for that presentation on ChicagoDNN.org.
The rest of CMS expo held some interesting things. This year, they finally included WordPress. In fact, I'll attended a talk called "WordPress IS a CMS, Dammit!" a title that perfectly describes WordPress community frustration at the CMS community prevalent opinion. I wasn't quite convinced that they proved their assertion.
I attended as The DNN Guy. DNN Corporate is suspiciously absent, given the philosophy espoused by in the founder's blog about community earlier this month. So I'm making myself available to anybody interested in knowing a little more, and I met several people in that category.
If you have any specific questions about CMS Expo, feel free to comment and I'll share what I picked up.
