Meeting Notes
1. We thanked John and Linda Coonen who run the CMSexpo in Evanston (next one is May 14-16 so sign up now!) who visited with us to talk about the expo and to share their experiences w/ running the Joomla user group.
2. ChicagoDNN co-founder Jim Nagy of Sprocket Websites did a quick state-of-the-UG - looks like all our social media follows have gone up over last month, great news! - and he did a quick state-of-the-Corp - looks like DNNcorp is kinda quiet, no news releases from corporate since mid-Jan. Some personnel changes though - Chris Hammond and Mitch Bishop have left the company and Clint Patterson has joined them.
3. Upcoming Southern-Fried DNN in April. Scott Wilkinson is speaking there. He and Phil Wegrzyn are driving to Charlotte, NC in April for that. Friend of CADUG Gifford Watkins texted in that he will also be road-tripping (from Nova Scotia) to attend. Get the Day of DNN details at http://www.southernfrieddnn.com/. And of course don't miss the ChicagoDNN meetup on Monday, May 13 at the Orrington Hotel in Evanston on the eve of the CMSexpo.
4. We reviewed a couple news modules. Co-founder Don Gingold of Sprocket Websites presented easyDNNnews. Sprocket has used it now in half a dozen or more projects and the clients are loving it. The latest deployment is in the Will County Health Department. Virtually the entire site - not only news but all their programs and services - are described using this module in various configurations throughout the site.
5. Next news module was from Ventrian, and Scott Wilkinson walked us through its installation and configuration on his site, DotNetNuclear.com. A powerful and flexible module, Scott has made a number of modifications to the look of the data displayed via Ventrian.
There's some further Q&A and lots of details to be had by watching the video.
Up for a decision - a new meeting time? The Orlando User Group appears to be meeting at the same time via online and several people from our group would like to attend. So we need to talk to them to see who blinks, I guess! Keep tuned for the latest.
