February Meeting Recap and Video

DNN 7.2.1, DNN Cons Italian & Chicago Style, DNN/ERP module demo

Thanks as always to the great people at PowerDNN who host this website for us and who, on those months when we meet in-person, cover the tab for food and drinks. Jim and I at Sprocket Websites host our clients there and highly recommend them.

Thanks also to J&S Tech Design who sponsors the virtual meeting room via GotoMeeting.

We had a nice showing of attendees at the meeting, including quite a surprise. Long-time DNN contributor Sebastian Leupold dialed in from Germany. He wins the Gold for furthest connection, which brings Germany's gold medal count to 8 as of this writing! :-) But Norway (my ancestral home) has more medals overall, so there! :-)

Here's the video clip of the opening of the meeting.

DNN Industry News

Jim Nagy of Sprocket Websites gave us the rundown of all things happening in the DNN world during the month. First he went over our social media status, and we're scoring well in new followers, which is great. Thanks and welcome! If you haven't done so, please add yourself to our many social platforms so you stay informed of group updates.

Jim went over DNN 7.2.1 release notes. There are alot of them! Great work, DNN developers, for such a rich and thorough update. There's been a lot of good blogging going on at corporate as well. Start here at their news page for articles, press releases and blog entries written recently.

Here's the video clip of Jim giving the news:

DNN CONs (yes, plural!)

I spoke on the upcoming DNN meeting in Italy between Verano and Milan coming up on May 17 and 18. We had discussed doing a US conference around the same time, but in deference to DNN Europe, we are planning something now in mid summer (late July to early August) in downtown Chicago.

I made a visit to a couple possible venues and gave a brief report on them. Other sites will be considered and we hope to find a venue and set a date in the next 4-6 weeks.

Although held in Chicago, it'll be a midwest effort. Numerous company leaders have offered to help plan and execute this big event, including Iowa Gurus, Enliven, BlueBolt, Gravity Works and Sprocket Websites. We'll be pulling the group together soon to begin the planning in earnest.

Here's the video clip about the DNN Cons:

Special Guest Talk:

Bill Paskey of TTS Systems, showing their ERP bridging modules

Thanks to Bill Paskey for showing us a demo of his software that makes Pilot ERP systems able to show their data on a DNN website, and also lets a DNN website manager make planning changes using the website interface, all in real time. It's a great tool for small and medium businesses who need the power of a resource planning system.

Watch the video clip for all the details from Bill:

See you Virtually in March.

Mark your calendars for March 12 at 7pm for the next Chicago Area DNN User Group meeting. Watch this website for topics, guests, and the GotoMeeting ID. See you then!
